December 2004
It’s been a busy couple of months for us here at groove4dayz.
The 2nd Peoplespeak album is now pressed and available and Dime a Dozen is ready with the first release from the Liegeman. They mastered the four track E.P at The Premises studios in Hackney. Recommended if you’re ever in need of somewhere affordable to go.
The first white label release is now mixed and ready to be unleashed. This is a track Dime a Dozen co-wrote with Shaun Escoffery called Long Way Home. There are 2 mixes equally groovin’ so we’re releasing it as a double A side.
All of these tracks will also be available for download in the shop section of the site after the Christmas madness.
If you come across the white label and any future releases from us, you’ll notice “G4DZ” printed all over everything, this is our new label name which is just a shorter way of writing groove4dayz.

In October Miles and I joined Chris Sharrock and Mike Rowe at the Alfie premiere, only to check out the soundtrack on the big screen you understand, nothing to do with the red carpet and hanging with the stars..…A very nice evening.

In November we had our first ever gig as MamaYo, which was a fantastic experience. The occasion was a birthday party for my brother-in-law Paul Bould; boy does he know how to party...
The gig was up in Lancaster and the audience were really supportive and got into the tunes, which were all new to most people there. As vocalist, I got a taste of what it’s like to be the front-person and my hat is off to all those poor fools who want that position…it aint easy!
Scott Firth played guitar like a mutha, Miles went all Keith Moon on the gig (with a load of hip hop thrown in) and we all had a scream. More more more….

Miles and I had some recording sessions in October and November. I did a couple of days at Metropolis Studios playing on 2 singles, one of which was for Jermaine Jackson. A very cool guy. He was really chatty and friendly, so I felt pretty comfortable working with him. Ian Thomas was on drums and he played great as always. We didn’t get to lay the tracks down together this time, but he’s a great laugh in the studio and a fantastic drummer.
That same week I went to the ICP studios in Belgium to record with KANE. The band had just won the award for best Benelux Act (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) at the MTV Europe awards. They have some great tracks which I think are gonna be really successful singles for them. Their 3rd album is scheduled for release around late Spring 2005.

We’ve had a great response from everyone about the site, so thanks to you all for your comments.
In 2005 we’ll be keeping the news and the fresh sounds coming, gig dates will soon be posted for MamaYo.

Merry Christmas and have a great 2005.
